| I had so much fun making this skirt!! I started out with a very different idea of what to make, but this is how it turned out instead. I used dark blue corduroy for the top part of the skirt. Then I put patchwork panels down each side and across the bottom. I added a large ruffle of clear water blue material along the very bottom. For the artwork I appliqued a mermaid ( I call her Jill ) jumping out of the water offering up a crystal to the moon from deep below the waters surface. There is a rock that she is able to moon bathe on after her offering. I used a stretchy aqua colored velvet for the thin line of water she is jumping out of as well as the drawstring waistband. Its super soft! The mermaid herself has a bikini top sewn on with a tight satin stitch. Strands of hair are sewn around her with a thin satin stitch in two shade of blue.
